Creativity rebound

Happy Fall, ya'll!

I'm happy to be making things again. Things: quilts and ceramics and jewelry, oh my! Yeah. The last couple of years(!) have felt like swimming through syrup.. heavy and thick and hard to breathe. Maybe that's depression? Maybe that's just what I've needed to experience? Maybe it was a perfectly reasonable response to some lousy cards? Either way, I'm excited to be excited again.

And yes, there have been lots (and lots!) of bright spots in that time, and I've been drinking in the riches of other people's creative expressions, but the dark spot has been my lack of interest in creating, an itch and a muscle that until recently had never deserted me, so I'm truly thrilled to welcome it back. Hello, muses.

I'll be at the PS 321 Holiday Market on Saturday, December 2nd with lots of new and beautiful things and you know I'd love to see you there. In the meantime.. Here are some new earrings. As I said when I made their smaller sister, they're to honor the times that aren't always smooth. There's beauty in the rougher textures too.

Portraits of Women

Portraits of Women

Join us on Friday evening 9/6 to welcome Jenny Belin and her Portraits of Women show back into the store.

Jenny's paintings of an ever-changing assortment of women is a source of perpetual joy. The subjects bridge the professional spectrum: from artists and writers to mathematicians, activists, icons, justices, and more.

Inspired by the desire to see more women represented in the public sphere, the show aims to do just that.

Come see them for yourself.

Reception is Friday evening, September 6th from 5-7pm

Show will b up in the store through October.

Too soon?

Too soon?

The weather broke yesterday. Or at least the humidity did, and it's a pleasant 75 degrees, with a calm, overcast grey sky. It's delightful. So I pulled out a few sweaters. They've been squatting in the back room waiting patiently for a moment when their mere existence won't be offensive to summer-lovers, bent on guzzling up the rays.

I love summer for sure, but man am I happy to feel a gentle, slightly cool breeze skimming my skin after a few weeks of oppressive heat. And so. I'm celebrating by pulling out a few of our sweaters. There are more to come, but in the meantime here's a little cashmere tease from Velvet. Available in a rich brick orange-red, and deep cobalt blue.

If you're traveling somewhere cold, you're welcome to ask.. the back room has more cozy goodness from Xirena, Velvet, and Hartford holding out for appropriate weather, and we're happy to give you a sneak peek.

In other news:

The sale baskets are overflowing, and we've initiated a new system: everything in there is marked with a dot: blue, green, red, $25, $50, and $75. Lucky finds abound.
